The RBC contract was the construction of 23 Nr WwTWs in the Western and Southern Water Service Divisions.
All sites used the Rotating Biological Contactor process for treatment and contained sludge storage and pumping facilities for 30 days, inlet screening for grit and grease removal, storm flow treatment, control buildings and standby generation. In addition, the contract included the upgrade of local sewerage networks. Phased construction often allowed the new works to be constructed within the existing site boundary.
The works with Population equivalent of 2135 and treated flow of 1270m3/day is situated on the outskirts of the Fivemiletown village. The old works was upgraded to meet future regulatory discharge standards and increased capacity to meet the growing demands of the town. The new scheme involved demolition of the two percolating filters, primary and final settlement tanks. The scheme included the construction of a new inlet works, 2 Primary Settlement Tanks, four RBCs, 2 Final Settlement Tanks, storm storage and Control Building.
The works with Population equivalent of 1675 and treated flow of 905m3/day is situated on the outskirts of Lisbellaw village. The new scheme included the construction of a new inlet works, three new Primary Settlement Tanks, five RBCs, three new Final Settlement Tanks and the provision of storm storage. Due to the tighter consent of 12 mg /l BoD and 25 mg /l suspended solids, a tertiary treatment system of sand filters was also installed. New storm storage tank, sludge storage facilities and Control Building were also constructed.
The works with Population equivalent of 850 and treated flow of 420m3/day is situated on the outskirts of Tamnamore village, County Tyrone. The Contract improved wastewater treatment at several small sites by installing pumping stations and transferring effluent to the new works at Tamanmore. The new site included new inlet works, two Primary Settlement Tanks, two RBCs, two new Final Settlement Tanks, storm storage and Control Building. The contract included the installation of 4 satellite pumping stations and associated rising mains.
